The Kingston Township Raiders B team won the Super Bowl championship with a 14-0 victory over the previously-undefeated Dallas Jr. Mounts last Sunday at Lake-Lehman High School field, improving their season record to 9-2.
The Raiders’ defense turned in its eighth shutout of the season as the team won its fourth Wyoming Valley West Youth Football Conference Super Bowl.
The Raiders’ defense kept the potent Dallas offense scoreless behind solid defensive line play led by David Edwards, Jason Anderson, Ryan Martin, Michael Golden and Connor Motley. The line was backed up by linebackers Kyle Piskorik, Ricky Morgan and Brett Storrs.
The passing defense was led by cornerbacks Nick Mathers, Christian Roberts and safety Peter Capitano. Starting cornerback Tanner Gattuso went down with a knee injury and was unable to complete the game.
On offense, the Raiders counted on a power running game behind the blocking of Mitch Kelly, Ryan Martin, Abdul Almeky, Michael Golden and David Edwards. There was fine outside blocking by receivers Jay Culp and Matthew Mathers.
The Raiders were able to move the ball downfield behind the power running of Bret Storrs and the outside running efforts of Connor Motley and Peter Capitano.
Two scores by Bret Storrs proved to be enough for this team of players to win.
